Every day, thousands of people are being charged for premium text messages on their mobile phones. In most cases, the user has opted in and has therefore requested to receive these billing messages for their subscription service. The average subscription service typically costs £/$1.50. However, there are some premium messaging services that charge the user up to £10 or $20 to receive one text. The problem arises when a user has consented to receive premium messages and is therefore being charged for a service that they did not request. Charging can take place on a daily or weekly basis until you text ‘stop’, so over time this could end up costing you hundreds or even thousands of pounds/dollars or euros .
